These 1982 IU Bloomington graduates wore their hopes for gainful employment on their mortarboards during spring commencement.
For recent college graduates, a new study released this month by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) has confirmed positive hiring projections for new grads. In August 2004, employers told NACE they expected to increase the number of new college graduates they hired in the 2004-05 academic year by 13.1 percent, compared to 2003-04. A follow-up survey in December found that 62.5 percent of responding employers confirmed their original hiring projections while 25 percent said they have revised their hiring projections upward.
Just 10.4 percent of respondents to NACE’s Job Outlook 2005 Winter Update survey said they have decided to pare back on their original projections.
