IU Northwest’s Darwin Day on the horizon

Darwin

The seventh annual Darwin Day will be observed at IU Northwest on Wednesday, Feb. 9, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Library Conference Center. Sponsored by the Anthropology Club and three days before the birth date of evolutionist Charles Darwin, the event will include a cake, but more importantly, featured speakers are four of IU Northwest’s newest faculty:

Kevin Kennedy from the Department of Biology will speak about the continuing conflict between creationism and science;

• Scooter Pegram, who teaches modern languages and minority studies will talk about language evolution;

Jackie Zalewski of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology will talk about current social evolution with the topic: "'Rebadging:' the In-house Outsourcing of Professional Workers;" and

 Mik Stokely of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology will discuss the topic "Science meets the Indian."
