| The IUPUI Post Office has been awarded the United States Postal Service (USPC) Certificate of Excellence for Outstanding and Lasting Contribution.
It is the first time the IUPUI Campus Post Office has received the honor, according to Keith Battle, director of IUPUI Postal Operations and Mail Services.
“It is a privilege and honor for the IUPUI Post Office to be recognized by the U.S. Postal Service for outstanding performance and lasting contribution. This award could not have come at a more critical time for us,” said Battle. “In fiscal year 2004-2005, IUPUI Mail Services went through a significant right-sizing and reorganization initiative, further challenging this new effort to provide enhanced excellent customer service and delivery on our sprawling campus, with fewer resources. I am most proud of our staff for the perseverance and integrity shown during this time.”
The campus post office is the third highest revenue-generating contract postal unit in Indiana. The award was based on outstanding compliance with USPS regulations, audit compliance and unit administration.
The IUPUI Campus Post Office and Mail Services gathers and delivers USPS and campus mail to nearly 200 sites on the campus as well as running a full-service Campus Post Office, located at 536 Barnhill Dr., Indianapolis. The daily mail volume of the entire operation is nearly 50,000 pieces of mail.
