IU nursing professor establishes degree program in Mexico

Connie Baker, an IU School of Nursing professor at IUPUI, is using her 40 years of expertise to help counterparts at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Mexico to develop that country’s first doctoral degree in nursing.

Baker has assisted the Mexican university since March 1999. Among her many contributions in implementing the program, Baker has helped boost the university’s library holdings, develop and recruit properly-prepared faculty, establish an on-campus nursing honor society and put the proper technology in place. The program was approved last November by university officials.
