| South African playwright Athol Fugard’s papers are housed at IUB’s Lilly Library, alongside a Gutenberg Bible, a Shakespeare first folio, a first edition of Paradise Lost and the earliest sample of Abraham Lincoln’s handwriting. Richardson has been elected to the board of directors of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. The organization consists of more than 425 public colleges and universities that promote understanding of public higher education’s role in society. Chief academic officers throughout the country will be meeting next week at the AASCU’s “Universities in a Global Age” conference in New Orleans. IU South Bend was the first IU campus to offer a course and then a minor in women’s studies. Majors are offered at both IU South Bend and IPFW. IU Bloomington offers a major in gender studies. IU East celebrated the grand re-opening of Hayes Hall last week. The newly renovated environment includes computer labs, the IU East Library, the Teaching and Learning Center, a studio for Whitewater Community Television and the IU East divisions of Business and Nursing. http://www.iue.indiana.edu/Eastnews/Eastnews.html
