The devil made him do it

Be careful what you wish for... In exchange for renewed youth, the aging Faust sells his soul to the Devil, who assists him in a new life of misadventure. The beautiful Marguerite loses her innocence to Faust, but can she save her soul from his fiendish master?

The IU Opera Theater 2000-2001 season, “Magic, Mystery and Mayhem,” continues tonight (Feb. 2) with one of the most popular settings of Goethe’s immortal story, and again tomorrow (Feb. 3), next Friday, Feb. 9, and Saturday, Feb. 10, with Charles Gounod’s Faust. Curtain time is 8 p.m. at the Musical Arts Center in Bloomington.

The production features the work of guest stage director Dale Girard, an award-winning performance combat director who is president of the Society of American Fight Directors and author of Actors On Guard. He teaches at the Hartt School in Hartford, Conn.
