| Two IUB faculty members at the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation in Bloomington have been recognized nationally for their leadership in disability sport and therapeutic recreation.
David Austin and Gary Robb of the Department of Recreation and Park Administration, are featured in the current issue of Palaestra: Forum of Sport, Physical Education & Recreation For Those With Disabilities. (Palaestra is an ancient Greek word for a sport school or gymnasium.)
The magazine recognizes the IU faculty members and 12 other individuals for their significant contributions to their field and for the international recognition they have achieved. Austin has published more than 100 articles and is co-author of three of the most influential textbooks in the field of therapeutic recreation. Robb has more than 30 years of leadership experience in therapeutic recreation. He is executive director of IU’s Bradford Woods Outdoor Education and Leadership Development Center and also directs the National Center on Accessibility.
