“Byzantium Constantinopolis/Istanbul” is the subject of a lecture sponsored by the IUB Ottoman and Modern Turkish Studies Chair Thursday, Feb. 17, at the Student Building, Room 150, IUB, at 7 p.m.
Talat Halman, chairman of the Department of Turkish Literature at Bilkent University, will be the lecturer. He has been a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award of the Turkish Academy of Sciences and the Turkish Foreign Ministry, and holds the title Knight Grand Cross, G.B.E., The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, conferred by Queen Elizabeth II.
