‘Gender, Feminism under Post-Communism’
On March 31-April 3, IU will host an international conference entitled “Gender and Feminism under Post-Communism” on the Bloomington campus.

The conference will focus on the development of feminism and the impact of feminist theories on the reshaping of gender roles in public policies, representations, and social and cultural practices in places from Germany to China.

The conference will bring to campus ten prominent scholars from around the world to speak on four panels: “Economic and Social Justice Issues,” “Representations,” “History and Myth,” and “Public and Private Spheres.”

The conference is being co-sponsored by the Russian and East European Institute, the Polish Studies Center, the Inner Asian and Uralic National Resource Center, the Center for the Study of Global Change, the East Asian Studies Center, the West European Studies Center, the Office of International Programs, the Humanities Institute and the University Graduate School.

For a complete list of speakers, follow the links at the Web site at the end of this story.
