| "Camilla is one of the most remarkable
associate instructors our department has had. Her superb performance
in the classroom, her tireless one-on-one work with students
and her full engagement in so many teaching-related activities
distinguish her from any other graduate instructor I know." |

Camilla Saulsbury says teaching is “not unlike making a soufflé: no matter how many successes you may have had in the past, you always run the risk of your results falling flat.”
She rarely seems to have the latter experience, however, when she teaches
such varied courses as the sociology of mental illness in the sociology
department, kickboxing in the School of Health, Physical Education
and Recreation or cooking.
Saulsbury, who plans to earn her Ph.D. in 2002, won the 2000 Edward H. Sutherland Award as an outstanding graduate student instructor in the Department of Sociology, two Teaching Excellence Recognition Awards and the 1998 Instructor of the Year Award from the Division of Recreational Sports.
She has also been involved in faculty development and pedagogical activities and finds time to write a regular column for the Indiana Daily Student about cooking. Saulsbury has won 12 cooking contests in the past two years; she plays the violin and viola; and she is a long-distance runner.
