 The former White House adviser will keynote the March 26 summit at IUPUI following the release of his controversial book earlier in the week.
| Richard Clarke, former White House "cybersecurity czar" will discuss "The Academy's Obligation to Secure Its Cyberspace" in his keynote address to the Indiana Higher Education Cybersecurity Summit on Friday, March 26.
The summit, co-hosted by IU and the University of Notre Dame, will be held at the University Place Conference Center on the Indianapolis campus of IUPUI.
Clarke is expected to begin his remarks at 9:15 a.m. at the conference center auditorium. He will be available for further comment following his formal presentation, in the reading room located adjacent to the auditorium.
Clarke is the author of Against All Enemies: Inside America’s War on Terror, to be released March 23.
Clarke served the last three presidents as a senior White House adviser. During the course of an unprecedented 11 consecutive years of White House service, he held the titles of special assistant to the president for global affairs; national coordinator for security and counterterrorism; and special adviser to the president for cybersecurity. Prior to his White House years, he served for 19 years in the Pentagon, the intelligence community and the U.S. Department of State. During the Reagan administration, he was deputy assistant secretary of state for intelligence.
During the former Bush administration, he was assistant secretary of state for political-military affairs and coordinated diplomatic efforts to support the 1990-1991 Gulf War and the subsequent security arrangements. Currently chairman of Good Harbor Consulting, he advises clients on a range of issues including: corporate security risk management, information security technology, working with the federal government on security, information technology issues and counterterrorism.
