ARTI’s TBRC was formerly RUGS’ IRLP

The Technology Business Resource Center (TBRC), an arm of the IU Advanced Research and Technology Institute (ARTI), is open and assisting clients after its move from Bloomington to the IU Emerging Technologies Center (IUETC) in Indianapolis. The TBRC provides a variety of services to Indiana entrepreneurs, governmental units and technology-based companies.

“ARTI is involved in statewide economic development,” said Mark Long, president and CEO of both ARTI and IUETC. “It makes sense for the TBRC to be closer to us, because ARTI is forming new companies that can benefit from the services the TBRC offers.”

Among its important functions, TBRC will help small businesses shepherd federal Small Business Technology Transfer and Small Business Innovation Research grants through complicated approval processes. The U.S. Congress established the STTR and SBIR programs to help small, technology-oriented businesses compete with larger businesses nationally and internationally.

The TBRC was formerly known as the Industrial Research Liaison Program. The IRLP was located in the Office of Research and the University Graduate School at IU Bloomington. A recent restructuring of the IU Graduate School resulted in IRLP’s transformation and relocation to Indianapolis
