IUB campus exceeds UW campaign goal

IU Bloomington campus employees exceeded the goal for this year’s United Way campaign by raising a record total of $602,400. Dan Dalton, dean of the Kelley School of Business and IUB campaign co-chair with Astrid Merget, dean of the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, said when a matching grant of $75,585 from the Lilly Endowment is added, the campus total will be $677,985, the largest in history. Last year’s total was $579,934. “This successful campaign reflects the dedication of all IU employees to the United Way goals,” Dalton said. “It is especially impressive to reach this mark when the economy in general is not doing very well.”

Dalton thanked the more than 200 IU volunteers who assisted with the campaign, noting that 70 IU departments exceeded their goals and five departments doubled their goals. There were 87 new and increased givers at the Vanguard Leadership level of donations that exceed $1,000. Of the 373 community Vanguard contributors, 231 were IU faculty, staff or retirees.

Monroe County United Way assists 25 member agencies in the community in meeting a variety of social service needs. The organization raised more than $1.7 million and IUB was the largest single institutional contributor.
