IU senior Stephanie Mast of Goshen, who is also on the university’s rowing team, took the opportunity to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ 99th birthday anniversary at a Read Across America Day event March 3. The Campus Children's Center's older preschool class of 20 children, ages 4 through kindergarten, invited several IU students and athletes, along with community representatives, parents and alums, to come read to them. Pictured with Mast are students Lucas Adams (center) and Andrew Goodrum.

IU’s interim president, Gerald Bepko, and his wife, Jean, (at the podium) were hosted at a welcome reception at the IU Art Museum in Bloomington Feb. 27 by Fred Eichhorn, president of the IU Board of Trustees, and his wife, Judy, on behalf of the trustees. Faculty, staff, students and townspeople attended the event. Bepko, the long-time chancellor of IUPUI, assumed the interim presidency Jan. 1 and will serve until a new president takes office.
