The Story: South Bend’s Greg Collins Youth Center opened its doors at the beginning of the year with an ambitious mission to steer at-risk youths away from trouble. One of the center’s partners is the IU-affiliated Aftercare for Indiana through Mentoring (AIM); AIM has chapters in each of the eight cities where IU operates campuses.

The Story: Mark Haney works on the grounds at IPFW and is a lieutenant colonel in civil affairs in the Army Reserves. For the past 14 months, he has been in Baghdad, establishing local committees to serve as the foundation of local government and overseeing rebuilding. He returned home April 2.
