| Just when last summer’s excavation of Kirkwood Avenue and Dunn Meadow in Bloomington was fading into memory, it’s time for another stage of utility work to begin. Two areas of 10th Street are scheduled by the City of Bloomington for a major utility update, which will require significant and extended traffic re-routing.
On 10th Street between Jordan and Woodlawn avenues, installation of new sanitary and storm sewers, a water line and sidewalks will begin on May 8, with completion projected for Aug. 10.
During this time traffic will be routed to Jordan Avenue, Law Lane, Fee Lane, 13th Street and Indiana Avenue. Some local traffic will be allowed from Jordan Avenue to Fee Lane for equipment and material delivery to the Graduate School of Business construction site.
The second work site, which involves an extension of the sanitary sewer, is on 10th Street in front of Crosstown Shopping Center. Partial street closure in this area is expected to last three to four weeks, probably in July. West-bound traffic will be routed to Union Street and Law Lane. East-bound traffic will be allowed on 10th Street.
