SLIS
Strategic Leadership in Information Science

Our graduates can be found at the Library of Congress, the CIA, OCLC, IBM, Lexis-Nexis, National Library of Medicine, and many other institutions and libraries worldwide.

The current ALA President-Elect, John W. Berry, is a SLIS alumni!

“I’ve worked at the CIA since 1984. My job came about through the SLIS front office. A recruitment advertisement was posted and I just happened to have my brand new resume ready. The hiring process took from February until October. In the meantime, I went to the ALA annual conference and interviewed for academic and government jobs. However, I held out for the CIA and I’m so glad I did!”

-- Kim Condas, Chief of the Reference unit at CIA’s Main Library now working in the CIA’s Office of Advanced Information Technology

"The quality instruction in school library science available at SLIS not only prepared me to prioritize and ask the right questions when job searching, but also (more importantly) daily enables me to be proactive to build the program our students need. SLIS's school library program gave me an understanding of current issues and technology while encouraging my adaptability to change and commitment to leadership in the profession."

-- Melissa Altman, School Library Media Specialist, Shenango High School, New Castle, PA
