Ada Azodo, modern languages, was one of 3,000 French teachers
from around the world to attend a joint meeting of the American
Association of Teachers of French and the 10th Congress of the Federation
Internationale des Professeurs de Francais, in Paris.

was the topic of a keynote speech presented by Dorothy Ige,
communication, at the December Learning Resources Network New
Millennium Convention on Lifelong Learning, in Chicago. |
George Bodmer, English, has presented a paper at the International
Symposium at the University of Cambridge, England. Bodmer also presented
a paper, "Reading Pictures: Art, Narrative and Childhood,"
at a Children’s Literature Association Conference in Roanoke, Va.
Northwestern University has commissioned Neil Goodman,
fine arts, to create a large scale bronze wall sculpture. The sculpture
will be part of the renovation and expansion of Northwestern's Block
Museum of Art.
Margaret Skurka, allied health, is serving on the board
of the American Health Information Management Association as past
president. During her terms of president-elect and president of
the professional organization, she visited more than 20 states.
Her term also included participation on a panel at the International
Health Organization Conference in Melbourne, Australia.

A new member of the editorial board
of the Journal of Psychological Nursing and Mental Health
Services is Deena Nardi, nursing. She has served
for several years on the review panel of the journal, which
is published monthly. |

Vesna Kilibarda, mathematics,
read a paper and gave a computer mini-course at the 13th International
Conference on Technology in Collegiate Mathematics in Atlanta.
Her title was "Transformation and Analytic Geometry with
Geometer's Sketchpad and Java Sketchpad." |
Excerpts of Clarke Johnson's anthropology course notes,
"Sacrification, Mutilation, Dental and Body Alterations,"
appeared on the NBCi Web site. The professor’s notes were in an
article titled "Is It Just for Aesthetics? Looking at the Reasons
and Implication Behind Culturally Altered Dentition."
Gianluca Di Musio, philosophy, is the author of an article
in Phronesis, a journal for ancient philosophy. The title
of the article is "Aristotle on improving one's character."
A $1.55 million grant from the National Institutes of Health has
been awarded to Cheryl Oprisko, program director in the Division
of Allied Health respiratory therapy program.
