Hawkins
| On the planet Archae Stoddard, the “terra-formers” of Persia Station are halfway into their ten-year mission, guided by a human-computer hybrid known as the Cassandra system.
In From the Hands of Hostile Gods, Darren Hawkins,
whose day job finds him at the IUB Office of the Registrar,
has had his first science fiction thriller hit print through
Silver Lake Publishing. Armed with an IU English degree and
on-the-job experience as a database analyst and SQR (Structured
Query Report) developer, Hawkins combines his expertise and
rich imagination to guide his protagonist, Commander Marcus
Brett, in the job of creating a habitable planet while hiding
Brett’s deep desire to be near the woman he loves.
When scientists begin to suffer from a rare form of meningitis and “Cassandra” warns of unauthorized personnel, the mission suddenly becomes one of survival. As his crew races for a cure, Brett looks for answers, to the strange happenings on his station and, say his publicists, “to the truth of consciousness itself.” In his spare time, Hawkins has been “successfully running his fantasy baseball team in the ground since 2002,” through the Front Office Baseball League.
