The IU School of Nursing has appointed Rose Mays, associate professor of nursing at IUPUI, associate dean for community affairs, a new position that will work to enhance the school’s involvement in the Indianapolis community.

As part of her new position, Mays will also co-direct the school’s Institute of Action Research which works with the local community to develop research to meet community needs.

Mays’ research and community work has focused on teen pregnancy prevention and models of care for parenting teens. She has served as a consultant to the Indiana State Department of Health’s Maternal and Child Health Programs on various issues relating to adolescent health. More recently she has conducted research on the prevention of sexually transmitted
