Coordinating commencement ceremonies is a huge job. Among the dilemmas—how
to move 6,000-some degree candidates into IU Bloomington's Memorial
Stadium for commencement ceremonies. Edda Callahan, Office of International
Programs, is just one of several hundred volunteers who help each
year with commencement logistics. She recruits ushers from among
the staff to direct a 45-minute long parade of graduating students
into their seats. Pictured here, second from the left, Callahan
goes over directions the evening before commencement with (from
left): Doug Porter, Parking Operations; Don Weaver, State Relations;
and Macia Richardson, Archives of African-American Music and Culture.
