• The first edition of Indiana Alumni magazine was published in October 1938.
• The Kokomo campus was founded in 1945 with classes in the former Seiberling Mansion.
• IU classes were being offered in Gary as early as 1922. When the City of Gary donated 27 acres in 1955, it became the campus known as IU Northwest.
• In December 1968, IU President Joseph Sutton and Purdue President Frederick Hovde agreed to merge their schools’ programs in Indianapolis. One month later, the Indiana General Assembly created IUPUI.
• IU Southeast began holding classes in 1941. Groundbreaking occurred on April 4, 1971, for a campus in New Albany.
