Tickets still available for Opera Theater’s season in Bloomington; MAC open house Sept. 7

Subscriptions for the upcoming 2001-2002 Indiana University Opera Theater season in Bloomington are available through Aug. 31 and single ticket sales begin Sept. 7.

The 2001-2002 season promises to be an exciting one. Some of the world’s most ccomplished young performers will be featured in six productions: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Jules Massenet's Manon, Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, Mark Adamo’s Little Women, Bedrich Smetana’s The Bartered Bride, and Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor. Don’t miss your chance to see the stars of tomorrow today!

For added convenience, two productions this season will offer Sunday matinee performances following a Saturday opening night: Hansel and Gretel and Little Women.

An open house at the Musical Arts Center in Bloomington is scheduled Sept. 7 from 1-3 p.m. as part of a weekend of arts open houses in collaboration with the Bloomington Area Arts Council and the IU Auditorium.

The dates for 2001-02 season performances are as follows:

The Marriage of Figaro, Sept. 21, 22, 28, 29

• Manon, Oct. 19, 20, 26, 27

Hansel and Gretel, Nov. 10, 11+, 16, 17

Little Women, Feb. 2, 3+, 8, 9

• The Bartered Bride, Feb. 22, 23, March 1, 2

• Lucia di Lammermoor, April 5, 6, 12, 13

+ Indicates Sunday 3 p.m. matinee performances. All other performances take place at 8 p.m.
