Patricia Lorimar Lundberg is continuing to serve as interim dean of arts and sciences until a new dean is hired.
C. Hazel Malone, nursing, received the university-wide Distinguished University Service Award from the University Council of Nursing Faculty.
Ruth Needleman, labor studies, is serving on the editorial board of the journal New Labor Forum.
Sondra Seung Ja Doe and Robert Weiler, social work, were presenters at the Y2K Biennial Midwest Social Work Education Conference. Doe’s paper was titled “Postmodern Social Work Education for Spirituality-Based Macro Practice in Human Service
Organizations” and Weiler’s workshop was titled “Bacchus and Battered Women: Drinking to Cope.”
Charles Gallmeier, sociology, presented his paper, “Teaching Ethnographic Methods by Teaching Community,” at the North Central Sociological Association meeting. He also presided over a research session and two teaching sessions.
Deena Nardi, nursing, presented “A Multicultural Model of Addiction Treatment” at the Northwest Indiana Substance Abuse 2000 Summit.
George Assibey-Mensah, SPEA, is the author of “Decentralization on Trial: The Case of Ghana’s District Assemblies,” which will appear in Western Journal of Black Studies.
