Articulating agreements
IUB, IUSB, IU East partner for student options, success
IU Bloomington
IU Bloomington and Ivy Tech State College-Bloomington have signed an articulation agreement which provides the framework for the transfer of credits earned in the Ivy Tech State College-Bloomington associate degree program in biotechnology to the bachelor of science degree program in the College of Arts and Sciences on the IUB campus.

This is the second such agreement between IU and Ivy Tech in Bloomington. The first was signed in December and allows students to transfer credits toward a general studies degree between the two institutions. More than 90 general education courses from Ivy Tech are accepted at IUB.

“Since most of the students who attend Ivy Tech are residents of Indiana, we see this as another valuable way to support the mission of Indiana University,” said Ken Gros Louis, interim senior vice president and chancellor of the IUB campus. “This is a great opportunity for students to move from a two-year degree to a four-year degree program. This particular degree also contributes significantly to the economic development of the state. It is a pleasure to work with Ivy Tech in this endeavor, and we appreciate the hard work the faculty on both campuses have done to make this possible.”

IU South Bend
Leaders from Lake Michigan College (LMC) and IU South Bend also have signed an articulation agreement that will make it easier for students to transfer to IU South Bend upon completion of their associate degrees at LMC.

Under the agreement, any LMC student who has completed associates degrees in arts, science, general studies, or business administration may transfer up to 60 credit hours toward a baccalaureate degree at IU South Bend. LMC is a two-year community college with campuses in the Michigan cities of Benton Harbor, Niles and South Haven. It serves more than 7,000 students annually and offers a wide range of one- and two-year occupational programs as well as programs designed to transfer to four-year institutions.

IU East
Residents in six Ohio counties can attend IU East at in-state tuition rates. Beginning this fall, IU East is offering Indiana in-state tuition rates to residents of Butler, Darke, Mercer, Preble, Shelby and Van Wert counties in Ohio.

The Indiana Commission for Higher Education and the Ohio Board of Regents approved the reciprocity agreement in an attempt to expand post-secondary educational opportunities for area residents while limiting the cost of such expansion to the taxpayers of Ohio and Indiana through collaboration among public higher education institutions.

Students who previously qualified for the Ohio Option will now receive in-state tuition rates through the new initiative.
