The equipment may have been "cutting edge"
50 years ago, but the dental facilities in this picture,
taken many decades ago at the James Whitcomb Riley
Hospital for Children on the IUPUI campus, were fairly
rudimentary compared to the way dentistry is practiced
in the 21st century.
For instance, this week, a National Institutes of
Health grant announcement insures a collaboration
between researchers at the IU schools of Dentistry
and Medicine to study dental plaque accumulation as
