Photographic detail, the Kinsey Institute collections
| Long before Miss Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction, society knew how to use naughty clothing to engage (enrage?) the curious public. Get up close and personal at the Mathers Museum’s The Allure of Clothing: Function, Fantasy, Fetish, Fashion. The exhibit at the IUB museum is a collaborative effort of the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction; the Elizabeth Sage Historic Costume Collection; and the Mathers Museum. These institutions have joined together to examine a variety of themes associated with clothing, modesty, sexuality and fashion across time and cultures.
The exhibit is open to the public, but parents may find some of the materials featured in the exhibit inappropriate for children under 18 years of age. (Also see Bra!vado: Breast in Show—a design competition being presented in conjunction with the exhibit.).
