Colescott at ‘Pressure Points’

Pressure Points, a print exhibition of 54 works from the collection of Jordan D. Schnitzer, will open at the IU Art Museum Saturday, Oct. 2 and run through Dec. 19.

Twenty-three artists will be represented, including British artists Julian Opie and Gary Hue, Latino Enrique Chagoya and African-American artists Robert Colescott and Kara Walker.

Colescott is serving as the IU Class of 1943 Wells Professor this fall, and is scheduled to give a public lecture Friday, Oct. 22, at 5:30 p.m. at the Hope School of Fine Arts, Room 015.

• Oct. 3: Collectors’ Workshop: Meet the Collector. Reservations required: 812-855-5300.

• Oct. 9: Family Day: Fun with Contemporary Art. 10 a.m-11:30 a.m.

• Oct. 13: Noon Talk. Leila Monaghan of the IUB Department of Communication and Culture will discuss modern printmakers’ re-creation of non-literacy forms. 12:15 p.m. in the Special Exhibitions Gallery.

• Oct. 14: John Buck: Sculpture and Prints. 6:30 p.m. at Woodburn Hall 101. Buck is an exhibitor in Pressure Points and will discuss his 2-D and 3-D work.
