Stroll through IUB’s historic neighborhoods Oct. 9

The Elm Heights and Vinegar Hill Historic Districts in Bloomington have been “good neighbors” to IU Bloomington’s campus from the 19th century.

Saturday, Oct. 9, Bloomington Restorations Inc. (BRI), have planned a walking tour of the near southside neighborhoods, which includes opportunities for lessons in both architecture and history.

“Architecture, Education and Industry: A Day in Elm Heights” will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and tickets are available at the old Elm Heights School, which is now Harmony School on East Second Street. Refreshments and restroom facilities will be available throughout the day for participants. Harmony School is a few blocks east of the Wylie House Museum, the home of IU’s first president.

The BRI tour will include the northeastside Millen House, home of the Organization of American Historians, at 112 N. Bryan Ave.

Tickets are $10 per adult, $5 for children under 12.
