ARTI seminar ‘What is my invention worth?’

Special seminars for IU faculty inventors as well as faculty interested in product research and marketing are scheduled this month and next on the IUPUI and IU Bloomington campuses.
The first seminar will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 18) in the University Library Auditorium at IUPUI. The seminar will be repeated at 10 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 19) in the Oak Room in the Indiana Memorial Union, IUB.
A panel discussion focusing on an industry perspective of technology valuation will be led by Ann Eskesen, president of Innovation Development Institute, a business resource firm based in Swampscott, Md. She has extensive knowledge in small business devel
opment and the complex task of bringing technology from the laboratory to the marketplace. In addition, she has served on the boards of several technology development organizations and testifies frequently before congressional committees regarding importa
nt small business and technology issues. The panel will consist of nine experts from finance, biotechnology and communication who will make presentations, discuss their ideas and respond to faculty questions.
Dates for next month’s seminars are Wednesday, Nov. 8, at IU Bloomington and Thursday, Nov. 9, at IUPUI. The focus will be patents, licensing and technology commercialization. The seminar series, called Partners in Invention and Entrepreneurship, is co-sp
onsored by the Indiana Pervasive Computing Research Initiative.
