Multicultural Job Fair Nov. 15 at Indiana Convention Center

Although organizers created the job fair to promote job opportunities for historically under represented groups in the work force, including minorities and those with disabilities, it is open to all college seniors and alumni.
College seniors and graduates seeking employment can meet with representatives of more than 80 regional and national employers interviewing for current jobs during the 11th annual Indiana Multicultural Job Fair (IMJF).

The job fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Nov.15 in the Sagamore Ballroom at the Indiana Convention Center, 100 S. Capitol Ave., Indianapolis.

Sponsored by the nine campuses of Indiana University and Purdue University, the job fair is open to graduates and soon-to-be graduates from any college in the country. Registration for interested job seekers is $10.Companies registered to participate include the U.S. Department of State, the Central Intelligence Agency, IUPUI, American Family Insurance, Clarian Health Partners, Emmis Communications, Frito Lay, Delco Remy International, Fifth Third Bank, Old National, Wishard Health Services, Sallie Mae Financial Services, National City Bank, Wiley Publishing, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Pepsi Americas, Steak 'n Shake, and Mid America Clinical Laboratories.Jobs available include accountant, management trainee, mechanical, electrical or chemical engineer, computer programmer, social worker, claims representative, probation officer, medical technologist, among others. Internship positions are also available at some companies.

Although organizers created the IMJF to promote job opportunities for historically under represented groups in the work force, including minorities and those with disabilities, the job fair is open to all college seniors and alumni.

The IMJF is the largest event of its kind in Indiana and traditionally draws college graduates and seniors from several states. In previous years, as many as 48 percent of the job candidates were minorities.

In addition to one-on-one opportunities for job candidates to interact with employers, the job fair will again offer participants the opportunity to add resumes to a database that will be distributed to all the employers at the fair.

The resume database gives candidates a link to companies they may not have contacted at the fair, and allows employers access to candidates for both current and future positions.
