Yost

Nancy Dailey began her duties as vice chancellor for external relations in June, and William Yost became vice chancellor for administration and finance in July.

Dailey had spent the last four years as director of development for major gifts for the IU College of Arts and Sciences on the Bloomington campus.

Specifically, she handled major gift fund-raising for 27 of the college’s 47 departments and programs.

Prior to Dailey’s employment with IU, she had been director of annual giving for the University of Florida Foundation; associate director of development and director of annual giving at Ball State University; and editor-in-chief of corporate communication s at Resort Condominiums International, Inc., in Indianapolis. Dailey also has worked as a journalist for Indiana Business Magazine, the Muncie (Ind.) Star and as a free-lance writer and editor, having articles appearing in such publications as National Geographic.

Dailey holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Purdue University and has done postgraduate work in radio/television and business at Ball State University.

As vice chancellor for external relations, Dailey oversees development work for IU Kokomo; handles alumni programming; coordinates campus contacts with the Indiana legislature and other government agencies; and manages the Office of Media Relations and Pu blications.

Dailey said she enjoys combining her background of journalism, academics and development because it gives her an opportunity to meet a diverse group of people and to hear interesting life stories.

“It is a very satisfying feeling when you can match a donor with his or her own interest,” added Dailey. “I look forward to fostering these types of relationships with those in IU Kokomo’s 11-county service region.”

Yost comes to IU Kokomo from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania where he had served as vice president for administration and finance since 1986. Yost was dean of administration and finance at Mansfield from 1978-1986. He also has been director of budget and finance, and budget analyst at East Stroudsburg University.

Yost holds a master’s degree in political science and public administration from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania; a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania; and an associate’s degree in compute r technology from Mercer County Community College in New Jersey.

Support of the educational services of IU Kokomo is provided by Yost’s office. Among the responsibilities are handling receipt, disbursement and recording of all university funds, including student fees. Business functions include procedures relating to p urchasing, personnel, payroll, inventory and accounting.

Yost said he was drawn to the university by its people. “I enjoyed meeting the people when I had my first opportunity to visit the campus. The university has a strong leadership team with Chancellor Person directing its course.”
