Jack Kemp

The former secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development had also served in the U.S. House of Representatives (R-N.Y.) and gained even further prominence in the national spotlight when Sen. Bob Dole named him his vice presidential running mate in 1996. He came to Bloomington in October of 1982 for a Republican fund-raiser.
