Robert F. Kennedy
It was on April 24, 1968, that Kennedy, the younger brother of assassinated President John F. Kennedy, appeared in Bloomington to campaign for the Democratic primary nomination for president. He was accompanied by Sen. John Glenn (R-Ohio) and made three stops: the RCA plant, the IU Auditorium and the Democratic Women's Club meeting at the Poplars. He was shot on June 5, 1968, in a Los Angeles hotel and died the next day.
