Theodore Roosevelt
Despite a raging fever, "Teddy" Roosevelt delivered the commencement address at IU's commencement in June 1918.Roosevelt had ties to IU as a friend of biologist Carl Eigenmann and had given his collection of stuffed birds to IU at the turn of the century. Roosevelt served two presidential terms beginning in 1901. Charles Fairbanks, a former IU faculty member, was Roosevelt's vice president from1904-1908.
