Administrative officials on the IU Bloomington campus are creating Emeriti House, which is scheduled to open this coming spring. Located at the corner of Hawthorne Street and Atwater Avenue, Emeriti House will offer office and meeting space for IU’s emeriti professors to continue their valuable contributions to the university.
Five IU Bloomington faculty
members have been elected fellows of the American Association
for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Fellowship in
the association is considered a high honor by both American
and international scientists. Those elected are: anthropologists
Kathy Schick and Nicholas Toth; biologists Mark Estelle
and Loren Rieseberg; and psychologist William Timberlake.
Inspired by blues music,
musicians and writers, 32-year-old Kevin Young, the
Ruth Lilly Professor of poetry at IU Bloomington, has
written a book of love poetry—Jelly Roll: A Blues—that
has been nominated as a finalist for the National Book
Award.
