• How do you transform an old coal mine into a protected bat habitat? Visit Turkey Run State Park to find out; Indiana Geological Survey staff members Barbara Hill, Kim Sowder and Licia Weber have designed an outdoor display answering that question, working with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Reclamation.

• During its first decade, the Teaching Research Ethics Workshop (TRE), sponsored by IU’s Poynter Center for the Study of Ethics and American Institutions, has attracted 389 participants from 38 states, the District of Columbia and nine foreign countries (28 participants total from Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Israel, Kuwait, Mexico, Norway and the United Kingdom), representing 124 universities and other institutions. The 11th annual TRE is scheduled in Bloomington May 19-22; registrations are being accepted.
