The Wadie Jwaideh Memorial Lecture in Arabic and Islamic Studies will be presented Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Frangipani Room of the Indiana Memorial Union on the IU Bloomington campus.
Muhsin Al Musawi, professor of Arabic literature at Columbia University and a leading literary critic in the Arab world, will lecture on the topic "Iraqi Culture: Dynamics and Outcomes since the British Mandate." Al-Musawi is the author of 24 books, including four novels, and more than 60 scholarly articles, and was the 2002 recipient of the Owais Award in Literary Criticism. He has been a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Arabic Literature since 1999.
