‘Red Scarf Girl’ to speak in Bloomington Nov. 19

Ji-li Jiang



Ji-li Jiang, author of Red Scarf Girl, will be speaking about her book at the IU Asian Culture Center, 807 E. 10th St., Bloomington, on Friday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m.

The author was 12 years old in 1966, when the Cultural Revolution in China began. Her memoir relates the story of her childhood, her membership in the Young Pioneers, the Communist youth organization, and her ultimate disillusionment with the politics of the time.
