Haag Breese
| Student trustee Erin Haag Breese, an M.D./Ph.D. candidate at the IU School of Medicine, believes her tenure on the board of trustees has given her a number of “incredible opportunities.”
“I always felt that my ideas and opinions were heard and respected, and I have gained great insight into the academic world,” said Breese, whose term expires June 30. Breese is the 15th student to sit on the Board of Trustees. The first, Leslie Shively, was sworn in on Jan. 1, 1976.
“As I have met students and alumni across the state, and heard about the role IU has played in their lives, I’ve come to fully appreciate the value this university brings to the state of Indiana,” she said. “I have had the opportunity of working with several remarkable people who have shown me what it is to be a strong leader, and I have witnessed the love and dedication that has gone into making this university a strong and successful institution.”
Applications for the student position on the Board of Trustees are now available online. Application deadline is Jan. 28.
The board has nine members, six appointed by the governor and three elected by alumni. http://www.indiana.edu/~trustees
