Nasser Paydar will assume the title of dean and vice chancellor for IU-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) on Jan. 1.
Paydar joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IUPUI in 1985 as an assistant professor.
He was appointed as the acting chairman of the department in 1989, and was elected by the faculty of the department and appointed by the dean as the chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1994. His research interests include a broad range of areas in structural and computational mechanics as they apply to electronic packaging and biomechanics. IUPUC is administered by the IUPUI campus.
