Tributes at IU South Bend

• Michael Horvath is the new dean of the School of Education. Horvath, a South Bend native and a graduate of IU South Bend, was formerly professor and dean of the School of Education at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. Prior to serving at Missouri Southern, he was professor and chair at Bradley University, Peoria, Ill; professor and associate professor at Fort Hays State University in Kansas; assistant professor of special education at Marywood University, Scranton, Pa.; consultant and diagnostician with Tucson Unified School District One and summer faculty member at IU South Bend.
• Steve Bruce has been named women’s head basketball coach, replacing Mary Wisniewski, who spent 13 years coaching the Lady Titans. Bruce becomes the third head coach in the program’s history and the first full-time women’s coach. He joins Micah Shrewsberry, who was named the men’s basketball coach last July. Bruce comes from Valparaiso University where he was an assistant coach for the women’s team for seven seasons (1999-2006).
